New Teams

If you are a visitor to this website and feel that you may like to enter a team next season, or if you

already play in the league but know of any new teams that would be interested in playing, let us know.

The league is always happy to welcome new teams who are interested in playing on Wednesday nights.

Meetings for entry into the league

AGM is usually in March when entries for the Summer League are submitted.

Meeting in August or September when entries for the Winter League are submitted.

  Playing Format

The Stafford Summer Darts League is 7 games

5 singles - 401 Double Start followed by

2 doubles - 501 Double Start

2 points for a win, 1 point for a 3-4 defeat.

The Stafford Winter Darts League is 7 games

5 singles - 401 Nomination Double Start followed by

2 doubles - 501 Nomination Double Start

2 points for a win, 1 point for a 3-4 defeat.

Throwing distance is 7' 6" minimum.

Individual awards for Highest Start, Highest Finish and most single games won (merit) in each division.

A play off competition for all players scoring a 180 during a season.

A play off competition for all team merit winners and runners up (individual with most singles wins).

A team registration fee of £5 is payable with entry to each league, together with a £6 refundable bond.

Wednesday Summer League History

4th December 1956 at the Sheridan Hotel - Meeting re:-

Creation of a new Summer Darts League to compliment the existing Winter Stafford Darts League.

Present were licensees

Eric Snape, Sheridan (Theatre Bar): Joe Boffey, Gate (Metropolitan Bar): Bert Wilson Crown Queensville:

Wilf Merrick, Plough, Browning Street: Bill Mitchell, Rifleman, Common Road

and representatives

J Bates, Cottage by the Brook (Tap and Spile) and E Tomlinson, Pheasant (Bear and Pheasant)

9th April 1957 at the Sheridan Hotel.

12 teams formed the Ind Coope & Allsops Darts League.

Cottage by the Brook (Spittal Brook) -  Gate A & B.

Crown Queensville  -  Queens Head (Market Site).

Plough Browning Street (AJ Business Solutions).

Talbot & Smithfield (Crown Court)  -  Kings Arms.

Rifleman A & B (closed)  -  Railway Inn.

Sheridan Hotel.

Format 3 doubles 501 and 1 single 301.

1962 Format changed to 7 singles 301

1960 Season name change to Ind Coope

1976 Season name change to Ansells Darts League

1994 Season name change to Courage Darts League

1996 Season name change to Pubmaster Darts League

2001 Season name change to Enterprise Inns Darts League

2006 Season name change to Stafford Summer Darts League

19th July 1988 at the Kings Arms

14 teams formed the Skol Lager Wednesday Winter League.

4th October 1966 Ind Coope Friday night Winter League formed with 8 teams

1977-78 Season name change to Ansells Winter Darts League

1995-96 Season name change to Courage Winter Darts League
